(Washington-AP) -- Americans will work an average of 124 days this year to pay their federal, state and local taxes.
So says a study released today as (m) millions of people rush to meet a midnight federal tax-filing deadline.
The Tax Foundation estimates it'll take workers until May third on average to make enough money to pay taxes and then start earning money for themselves.
Last year the day was May eleventh.
Connecticut, Wyoming, New York, New Jersey and Wisconsin are listed as the top five high-tax states.
The bottom five are Tennessee, Alaska, Kentucky, Alabama and Mississippi.
