(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Student fees at Oklahoma universities could be going up soon if a bill headed for a House floor vote is approved by lawmakers.
Lawmakers have objected to past attempt at raising fees, saying it's just another way to get around a tuition hike. Fees at most colleges have increased considerably over the past several years.
Representative Charles Gray says he is willing to sponsor the bill because the fees and their purposes are delineated clearly.
Gray says past attempt at fee increases have been buried in other bills. He says the bill doesn't raise the fees, it authorizes the boards of regents to increase the fees.
Lobbyists for the bill say Oklahoma State students have supported a fee to generate 15 million dollars in bond money over the next 20 years to build a new recreational center on campus.
