TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- An Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent who fired her weapon during a fight with her husband has been fired.
Kathy R. Splawn is a 14-year veteran of the agency. She was given a March 1 termination notice. Officials said she also operated her state vehicle in an unsafe manner and for a prohibited purpose during the disturbance with her husband, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Dennis Splawn.
In January, McCurtain County District Attorney Walter Hamilton decided not to file charges in the Jan. 6 dispute. The couple was fighting when shots were fired outside their home near Blocker in Pittsburg County, OSBI spokeswoman Kym Koch said in January.
Kathy Splawn had been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation.
Dennis Splawn has worked for the highway patrol for 14 years. The OHP has yet to respond to an open records request for employment information and has not divulged any disciplinary action regarding him.
