(Muskogee-AP) -- A safe, estimated to weigh 2,500 pounds, is finally out of the renovated Muskogee County Courthouse -- but the job wasn't easy.

The 30-year-old safe was left behind when workers finished a 7.5 million dollar renovation of the courthouse.

Last week, workers tried to put the safe on an elevator to get it out of the building, but the elevator promptly fell to the basement level.

Before that, workers had tried pounding the safe into pieces with sledgehammers. But by last night, the elevator's hydraulic system was fixed and workers wheeled the pesky safe away.
