(Dewey-AP) -- Dewey police are searching for two people who attacked a Dewey officer and left him unconscious. Dewey City Manager Bruce Johnson says Sergeant Tim Stringer was on a routine patrol along Don Tyler Avenue at about 3 o-clock this morning.

Stringer spotted two individuals in an alley and when he investigated, they went for his weapons. Stringer was able to radio for help before he was knocked unconscious.

Washington County Sheriff's department personnel responded, but were too late to apprehend the suspects. Stringer was treated and released from a Bartlesville hospital.
