Tulsa police are tracking more than just criminals on the streets the latest list of the most dangerous intersections in the city is out.
From behind the counter, Jasset Peddham hears or sees about four to five accidents a week at 51st and Memorial.
"They are always in a big hurry and a big rush. They don't think, not thinking that's exactly what it is," says Peddham.
The Tulsa police department says drivers not thinking mixed with lots of traffic is a recipe for disaster. So, they keep track of what intersections see the most accidents.
"It is interesting to see this usually it's the same intersections every year," says Tulsa Police Departments Andy Phillips.
The latest numbers are out, Anita Jenkins thinks 71st and Memorial is number one.
"It's so crowded there, everybody is going every which way," says Jenkins.
71st and Memorial isn't on top, but it's one of six intersections on Memorial that have driven into the top twelve. Just a block away, 61st and Memorial is ranked third. Josh Lee watches the second most dangerous intersection nearly every day, that's 21st and Garnett. Lee sees a lot of fender benders, but didn't expect such a high ranking.
So, we get back to Jassett Peddham who watches over Tulsa's most dangerous intersection 51st and Memorial. She knew the answer and was confident in her guess.
"I've heard it is ranked number one, the first and I would agree with that," says Peddham.
So what do these ranking's tell us? They tell the Tulsa police department where to send officers, especially the ones who are hard to spot.
"We have 15 motorcycle officers that pretty much are spread thin, but they try to target these areas as much as possible," says Phillips.
Peddam also lives near 51st and Memorial and wants people to start thinking, because she doesn't want to be a target someday. 41st and Memorial and Pine and North Yale are ranked four and five.
