(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The trust overseeing the Oklahoma City National Memorial today approved the rules, regulations and policies needed for the memorial to function as a national park. Members of the trust also approved an organizational structure matching local trust employees with workers from the National Park Service, and fiscal budgets for the 2000 calendar year.
The trust didn't set an admissions fee for the museum that will operate inside the Journal Record Building, which is set to open in November. That's expected to be decided later. Trust members learned today that the operation will be run with minimal staffing. They hope there will be enough tour guides and other volunteers willing to work at the memorial to keep staffing costs down.
Operating costs for the outdoor memorial and museum are estimated at $1.4 million for the first few months. Officials say the budget will increase in 2001 when the museum is open the entire year. The trust will meet again in April, just before the outdoor memorial opens to the public.
