OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Collections for the state's General Revenue Fund climbed 9 percent in December over a year ago, a report showed Tuesday. Collections totaled $389.9 million, $32.7 million more than the same month a year ago. Income taxes were up 2.9 percent, sales taxes were up 1 percent, gross production taxes on natural gas were up 63.1 percent and motor vehicle taxes were up 3.7 percent.
Other receipts were up 29.5 percent, partly due to the state receiving money from the national tobacco settlement.
"We continue to see solid collections in each of our major taxes," said Alison Fraser, deputy director of the Office of State Finance.
"Based on these collections and the Oklahoma Tax Commission's Fiscal Year 2000 revenue projection that was presented to the Equalization Board recently, it seems likely we will make a deposit to the Rainy Day Fund at the end of this year."
