(Fort Campbell, Kentucky-AP) -- The Army announced today that the court-martial for a second solider charged in a military murder case is scheduled to begin Saturday. Private Calvin N- Glover of Sulphur, Oklahoma was convicted in a court-martial of premeditated murder and sentenced to life in prison. The case has prompted scrutiny of the military's policy towards homosexuals.
Specialist Justin R- Fisher faces four charges in connection with the July fifth beating death of 26-year-old Private First Class Barry Winchell of Lincoln, Nebraska. Winchell is charged with participating as a principal to premeditated murder and acting as an accessory after the fact. Glover used a baseball bat to crush the skull of Winchell as he slept in his cot at Fort Campbell. Prosecutors say Glover was driven by hatred of homosexuals.
