OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A bar owner and his bartender are in fair condition today after they were beaten during a botched armed robbery that led to the arrest of two people. Police surrounded the bar for several hours before determining no one else was inside.
Capt. Charles Allen said Marcus Dewayne Huddleston, 26, and Travis Demone Huddleston, 17, were taken into custody on complaints of robbery and assault. He said more complaints may be added as the investigation continues. Allen said that officers were responding to an armed robbery in progress call about 2:30 a.m. and took one suspect into custody as the man left the Oasis Club in northwest Oklahoma City. A second suspect later surrendered to authorities. Allen said three hostages eventually were released and two were taken to hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
A 67-year-old man was in fair condition at Integris Baptist Medical Center. A woman was in fair condition at University Hospital. "They were beaten pretty badly," Allen said. Allen said several things pointed to the possibility that a third person remained inside. SWAT team members went into the club about 9 a.m. but could find no evidence of another person.
