Eduardo Najera's (NAH'-heh-rah) slam dunk of an alley-oop pass at the beginning of the championship game against California may have been indicative of what was to come.
Oklahoma defeated Cal 75-to-58 to win the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska tonight.
The undefeated 3-and-oh Sooners were powered by Najera's 23 points and eight rebounds. Twice Najera swatted away easy lay-ups to stymie Cal's attempts to rally in the second half.
California tied the game 38-to-38 early in the second half, but Oklahoma scored 15 unanswered points to take a 61-to-44 lead with 7:54 to play.
Vander Laan led Cal with 23 points. Oklahoma held the Bear's star forward Sean Lampley to nine points.
