A Tulsa resident is in police custody after he was subdued by a high-velocity 2-inch beanbag and the police officer he reportedly shot is in good condition with a gunshot wound to his hand.

The incident began at mid-evening in east Tulsa when officers were dispatched to the report of a man acting strangely.

Officers tried to talk to the man, but efforts to calm him failed and police said he produced a weapon which he fired, striking the officer.

Another officer fired the non-lethal weapon and hit the suspect, disabling him long enough that others were able to restrain him.

Tulsa Police Information Officer Sergeant Wayne Allen said the investigation continues into this incident.
