This weekend the streets will be filled with little ghosts and goblins gathering candy. Here are some ideas on how to stay safe while having fun.
Your computer can help you and your kids celebrate with a high tech holiday. Family P-C magazine says there's inexpensive software available that can help kids design and print their own cards and invitations. And if you get good snapshots of your child in costume, you can use the Internet to send Halloween photos on-line.
While Halloween is a favorite holiday of children, it can also be a dangerous one. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says there are some simple steps to follow to keep your little ghost and/or goblin safe on Halloween night. First, make sure the costume is made of non-flammable material. Decorate the costume and candy bags with reflective strips, so the drivers of cars will be able to see kids. Be sure to give your kids a flashlight to carry.
If the costume has a mask, make sure it has proper ventilation and large eyeholes, so children can find their way through the neighborhood. When they bring home the candy, inspect it carefully before your children eat it. If you find anything suspicious, call police.
One way to make sure your children receive safe candy is to take them to the Tulsa Zoo for trick or treating. HalloZooWeen kicked off Thursday night and runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM every night through Sunday. The cost is $4 for trick or treaters and $2 for adults.
