Oklahoma Indian tribes will be getting a piece of 89 million dollars in grants from the JusticeDepartment.

The grants will be used to hire, equip and train police officers... plus build new jails and start other anti-crime programs.
Tribal leaders who met with Attorney General Janet Reno told her that many reservations are plagued by crime with inadequate police,
jails and courts.

In Oklahoma, 14 tribes will share one-point-four-five million dollars.
The Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes will receive the largest amount --close to 234-thousand dollars.
