NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma men's gymnastics coach Greg Buwick announced his retirement Tuesday after 21 years with the university. "I am following the advice that I have given my athletes -- to follow your heart and avoid situations that put a ceiling on your ability to succeed, either financially or professionally," Buwick said. During his 16-year tenure as head coach, Buwick had a 224-96 record that included an NCAA team title. He also coached the Sooners to an NCAA team runner-up finish and five conference titles. Buwick was voted National Coach of the Year in 1991. "We want to thank Greg for his years of loyal service to the University of Oklahoma and for the tremendous success that he has brought to the men's gymnastics program," said OU athletic director Joe Castiglione. Assistant coach Mark Williams has been promoted interim head coach.
