Flags are flying at half staff in Broken Arrow for an Oklahoma war hero.

It's in honor of Colonel Ernest Childers who died this week. Childers was a native of Broken Arrow. He was one of only two American Indians to receive a medal of honor during World War II.

A 9-foot statue of Childers is the centerpiece of Broken Arrow's Veterans Park.
