WICHITA (AP) _ Boeing will issue thousands of layoff notices Friday as part of the sale of its Oklahoma and Wichita plants.
Boeing officials in a memo to employees said that the notices are part of the separation and re-employment process needed to become a new company. The Canadian firm Onex last month bought commercial operations in Tulsa, McAlester and Wichita.
Officials are telling workers the notices are no reason to panic or assume that they have or don't have a job with Onex. Workers also will be asked to sign a waiver allowing release of personnel information to Onex.
Boeing has about a thousand employees in Tulsa and around 300 employed at its facility in McAlester.
