HEAVENER, Okla. (AP) _ Authorities say a Poteau man was killed Saturday in an all-terrain vehicle accident in LeFlore County.

Sixty-one-year-old Johnny Cowan suffered massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on private property near Heavener.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Cowan was driving the ATV north on a private road around 2 PM when it hit a rock and overturned.

Cowan and nine-year-old Justice Sissan, who was riding on the vehicle, were thrown off and Cowan was pinned. Sissan suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Troopers say neither was wearing a helmet.
