Broken Arrow students can look forward to some new classroom materials soon. Dozens of teachers were surprised with some extra cash Thursday.
Students and teachers were jumping for joy after the foundation for Broken Arrow Public Schools made their classroom wishes come true.
The foundation's mission is to help fund new, innovative projects that teachers might not be able to afford, otherwise. In all, close to $50,000 worth of grants were handed out Thursday. The money will pay for all sorts of classroom items from whiteboards to calculators.
6th Grade teacher Lisa Wingo: "It’s a lot more difficult without the grants. Then the teacher is spending there own money and it really is important that we have all those resources for the students in the classroom."
The foundation has given away about $65,000 this year, including $5,000 to the Broken Arrow Teacher of the Year.
