OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Requiring voters to verify their identity at polling places will create long lines and additional delays on election day.
A state lawmaker has filed legislation that would require voters to present a photo ID at their election precinct before they can vote.
Voters who don't have a state-issued ID would be allowed to vote after they sign a statement swearing they are the person who is registered to vote.
Election Board Secretary Mike Clingman says this process will require more poll workers and will slow down the process.
The Oklahoma House was scheduled to take up the voter ID measure Wednesday, but instead, sent the bill back to the state House Rules Committee for more work.
