REDMOND, Wash. (AP) _ Microsoft says it will replace the power cord on more than 14-million X-box consoles worldwide because of a fire hazard.
The company says there have been 30 failures that caused minor burns or smoke and fire damage to carpets or entertainment centers.
X-box owners can order a free replacement cord online at www.Xbox.com.
While waiting two to four weeks for your new power cord, Microsoft says turn off your X-box console when not in use.
The flaw affects about 70% of the 20-million consoles sold.
Company vice president Peter Moore says the company has been gearing up for the recall for several months, producing replacement power cords.
