The search is on to replace Bo Pelini at Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Sooners coach Bob Stoops says he's already looking for a replacement for his co-defensive coordinator, who left Thursday to become the defensive coordinator at LSU.

Stoops says he doesn't have a timetable for hiring a replacement, but he expects to have a lot of interest in the position.

He says he'll continue the search until he can locate the best candidate.

Although Pelini was only with the Sooners for one season, Stoops says he made significant contributions while splitting the defensive coordinator duties with Brent Venables. Pelini was also in charge of Oklahoma's secondary.

Stoops says he considers Pelini an excellent coach and a good friend.
