OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Volunteers in two Oklahoma cities will count the homeless in their area tonight.
Teams in Oklahoma City and Norman will conduct the census at shelters, hot meal programs and encampments where the homeless are known to gather.
Cities that receive federal Housing and Urban Development money to provide services for the homeless are required to conduct a census of homeless each year.
Officials in Oklahoma City and Norman say they don't expect to find every homeless person, but the count gives them an idea of the number of homeless and what services can best help them.
