The News on 6 gas gauge shows you need to get ready to pay more at the gas pump. Gas prices jumped noticeably Thursday morning.
6 in the Morning reporter Omar Villafranca says filling up your car could empty your wallet. Prices are up.
Regular unleaded gas here will cost you as much as a $1.89 a gallon. That's about 12 cents higher than Wednesday at this time. And several cents higher than the new national average of $1.86, according to AAA. Plus grade gas is $1.96 a gallon. And if you put the good stuff in your car, expect to pay $2.05 cents a gallon at Quik Trips.
Last year at this time, the national average of gas was more than 25-cents cheaper a gallon at $1.61. Let's put it in real terms. If you drive a Honda Accord, with a regular 17 gallon tank and you're going to fill it up, it'll cost you more than $31. Just half a tank, .will run you about $16.
If you want to conserve your gas and save money, AAA says don't accelerate as fast. Not that you need it this time of year but use the vent instead of the air conditioner and carpooling can save you a lot on gas money.
