LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) US bobsled star Todd Hays is expected to miss the final two events of the World Cup schedule after injuring his foot in Italy.
Hays is a former University of Tulsa linebacker who won a silver medal in the four-man bobsled at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.
Hays hurt his right foot during his first run in the four-man competition on the track that will be used at the 2006 Olympics. Officials say he suffered a deep cut to the foot when one of the sled's runners ran over it.
He will not compete this week at St. Moritz, Switzerland, and the Verizon Cup in Lake Placid, New York, in mid-February.
Hays also will miss the two-man world championships in Calgary, Alberta, on February 18th and 19th.
U.S. Olympic Committee medical staff and team coaches will decide if he's able to compete in the four-man world championship races February 26th and 27th in Calgary.
Hays was a linebacker and captain on Tulsa's 1991 team.
