Few people would buy a car without a test drive, so why buy a major appliance without taking it for a spin, and kicking a few tires.
News on 6 reporter Rick wells found a new store in Tulsa that invites customers to try things out, so he took a little tour and did a load of laundry.
Hard as it may be to figure, at Tulsa’s new Maytag store, they encourage folks to do their laundry. Bring some dirty clothes in and find a machine that will get them clean. So I did.
In the store is a Maytag Neptune high efficiency washer, uses much less water than conventional ones. They have a wall of washers and dryers hooked up waiting for people to try them out.
While I finished getting my laundry going store owner Dave Bauer, put some cookies in the oven for later. The kitchen is fully operational and you can use it. There are a dozen styles and sizes of dishwashers you can actually see and hear operate. "You can listen to the least quiet dishwasher to the most quiet dishwasher and see which one meets your criteria."
Grab a cup, tryout the ice maker and water dispensing refrigerators. Some are more kid proof than others.
I was getting a little hungry, so I pulled out the fixin's for a grilled cheese I had brought, fired up the griddle and made a sandwich. They said it was ok. "You might actually find and appliance you don't like we'd rather you find it here before it's installed in your home."
This is the first store of its type in Oklahoma. Lots of appliances to try out, a kids area with videos for them to watch while you watch you clothes spin dry. About that time mine were done.
Time to unload the washer and get on my way. My clothes are clean, my tummy's full, I'm ready to go. Life is good.
The grand opening is Friday morning. It will feature cooking demonstrations with special guest chefs. The store is located at 41st and Yale next to Reasor's.
