OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A former CIA employee and psychiatrist says policing the Internet is the new challenge in fighting terrorist groups.
Dr Marc Sageman told state and federal law officers in Oklahoma City that the Internet is being used to increase the number of terrorist groups. He says the Internet allows terrorists to communicate quickly, form alliances and plan possible attacks.
And he says the greatest danger from terrorism is in Western Europe, where the people know how to act like westerners.
Sageman is the author of the book "Understanding Al Qaeda Networks" and worked with guerrilla groups as a CIA agent in Afghanistan in the 1980s.
He spoke Tuesday at the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism in Oklahoma City.
