MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A former Muskogee County deputy sheriff and 2000 sheriff candidate is arrested after police find the man parked at a grocery store with drug paraphernalia in his car.
Forty-eight-year-old David Meeks was arrested yesterday on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.
Police say Meeks was found with a needle in his hand and a spoon on the floorboard. Police say a substance believed to be methamphetamine was found on the syringe and the spoon.
The substances have been sent to a lab for testing.
Police say the tampering with evidence complaint was filed because Meeks tried to get rid of the evidence when approached by police.
Meeks is scheduled to make an initial appearance at 3 P-M Monday in Muskogee County District Court.
