The Chili Bowl Race is in high gear at the Expo Center, but the traffic moves considerably slower at 21st and Yale. There's some good news on the construction front however.
News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says you may feel like you need race car skills to weave around the construction area, but this weekend, all four lanes will be open.
They'll also keep the traffic light coming out of the fairgrounds green longer, to help with traffic flow. The project is taking a little longer than expected because of the occasional shutdowns.
They've added about 30 days to the finish date. It's kind of a catch-22 for the city. Marsha Hinds with Tulsa Public Works Department: "We can't shut down every time there's an event, it would be cost-prohibitive and the project would go on for years and years, but on major events we try to work with them as best we can."
It will be back to one-lane each way on Monday. The project is set to be done in mid-April.
