With the bitterly cold temperatures staying for at least another couple of days, it's important that people have a place to stay warm.
Tulsa’s Day Center for the Homeless is open during the day for people to escape the cold. They say many of the people who come usually work outside and that those jobs are not available when the temperatures drop this low.
Executive director Sandra Lewis says sometimes it is standing room only at the center, but that our community has room for just about anyone who needs shelter. "I think it’s important for the community to know that we do have adequate shelter in this community for anyone who wants to seek shelter can get it, especially when the temperature is this bad and I think that speaks highly about our community."
Lewis says they handed out about 150 coats Wednesday alone.
