An Oklahoma man who's been serving in Iraq will spend the holidays at home.
Ross Atkins arrived home in Tulsa Monday evening, greeted by dozens of friends and family members. He's been in Iraq since August on voluntary deployment with the US Army Corp of Engineers. They're working to rebuild the war torn country.
Atkins says they have their work cut out for them. "Saddam let it run down for about 40 years and so everything is really falling apart from misuse and from neglect. So we're helping build that back up, training the people on how to even maintain the equipment, so that when we leave, they'll be self sufficient."
Atkins heads back to Iraq in two weeks. He plans to be there through May.
