Fatal shooting near Bristow under investigation

Creek County Sheriffâ€™s deputies are investigating a deadly shooting.

They say Ted and Virginia McCurley woke up Sunday night to the sound of someone tampering with the phone box at their home south of Bristow. They say Mr. McCurley shot through the front wall, and then his wife shot through a window, hitting 41-year-old Bryan Evans.

The McCurley's tried to call police, but since their phone lines were cut, had to go next door for help. Evans died Monday morning.

Investigators traced a vehicle found at the McCurley's home to someone who also had the last name of Evans, but couldn't find that person at home.
