OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma will get 77-thousand dollars to develop the first Amber Alert notification system in the nation that uses satellite technology.

The grant from the S-B-C Foundation will be used to develop a satellite activation system. The system will give information about a missing child to radio and television stations faster than the current system.

The satellite system is to include photos of the missing child and the person suspected of taking the child plus a description of any vehicle being sought by police.

The satellite feature can also be used to activate roadside message boards. And it gives police a better way to activate a regional Amber Alert when neighboring states might be affected.
