TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- A Sequoyah High School student whose fight with cancer inspired classmates, has died.

19-year-old Konrad Holmes had been getting treatment for a rare cancer that began in his nasal cavity and spread to the rest of his body.

After being diagnosed with the cancer as a sophomore he was told he wouldn't live long enough to graduate from high school.

Holmes then took three years' worth of subjects through home-schooling and video classes and graduated last year.

Shortly after graduating Holmes said a person only gets one shot at life and had better do as much with it as possible.

A memorial service for Holmes was Wednesday in the Sequoyah High School gym.
