Containing Animal Diseases

Six emergency agencies in Oklahoma are getting mobile decontamination units to use in case of an outbreak of disease in livestock. The units will clean and disinfect vehicles and equipment used to transport livestock during a disaster event.

Each unit costs $80,000 and includes a pressure washing system, disinfectant chemicals, a generator and other equipment.

They're being given to the Atoka Fire Department, Oklahoma County Sheriff's Department, Tahlequah-Cherokee County emergency management office and emergency management departments in Carter, Texas and Washington counties.

Money for the units comes from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
