CHILOCCO, Okla. (AP) -- The success of a small casino connected to a travel plaza near the Oklahoma-Kansas border has sparked plans for a new full-scale casino nearby, development authorities of the Otoe-Missouria tribe said.
Work on a new casino behind the tribe's travel plaza off U.S. 77 began last week. It is expected to open in November.
"We're very pleased with the amount of traffic and business that facility draws," John Shotton, vice president of the Otoe-Missouria Development Authority, said of the Lil' Bit of Paradise Casino, connected to the travel plaza. "So we've launched an endeavor for a full-scale casino."
The new facility will be called First Council Casino and will be stocked with about 900 games, a poker room, black jack table, full-service buffet restaurant and sports bar.
