LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Minister's Bid edges Bully for You by a half-length in the $54,000 allowance optional claiming race at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, trained by John Ward and owned by Tulsa, Oklahoma, oilman John Oxley, Minister's Bid ran the mile Sunday in 1 minute, 34.64 seconds.

The 4-year-old son of Deputy Minister drew even with Bully for You at the eighth pole before pulling clear in the final yards.

The winner's share of $34,397 boosted Minister's Bid's career earnings to $246,570.
