An Oklahoma teen is in the fight for his life, but on Sunday he took time out to celebrate it. James Osborne had three wishes, and all of them were granted. The News On 6’s Latoya Silmon reports everyone came camera ready with all eyes on this very special 17-year-old boy.
“He's a strong tough kid. He's a very loving kid,†said Osborne’s in-law Delona Farrow.
James Osborne has cancer, but he's not letting it define him. The youngest of six children has goals, three of them to be exact, and on Sunday, he got to live out all of them. He rode in a patrol car and flew in a helicopter. He also wanted to fish.
“I think any law enforcement officer, that's one reason we get in this business to help people,†said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. Sheridan O'Neal. “Sometimes you see the other part of it, but when you can do this, it really means a lot.
Osborne's three wishes were granted with the help of an organization called Just Believe Inc.
“No door has been shut,†said Delona Farrow. “Every door has been opened with opened arms. Everybody has been willing to do this for him, and it's just been a blessing.â€
And mom, dad and son couldn't be happier.
“He's in awe. I mean he is totally in awe,†said Osborne’s mother Lisa Marie Farrow. “All this, we didn't know anything about this until this morning.
It took Just Believe Inc. only a few days to make Osborne’s dreams come true, but when every second counts they had to act fast.
“It's very hard, but this day is for him, and we just want him to have the most special day that he can remember and something that we'll all remember,†Delona Farrow said.
Osborne, who is from Rial near Henryetta, was first diagnosed in January. Since March his family tells us his cancer has spread.
