INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The NCAA Wednesday says that Arizona's win against Tennessee in the decisive third game of this year's Women's College World Series was the most-watched telecast of the event ever on an ESPN network.
An estimated 1, 676,000 households tuned in to watch Arizona win its eighth national title by beating Tennessee 5-0 on June sixth. The 1.8 rating for the ESPN2 telecast tied with game three of the 2005 championship series between UCLA and Michigan that had been the highest-rated game.
About 1, 644,000 households tuned in for that game, which was won by Michigan.
The series also set an attendance record for the fourth straight year, drawing more than 62-thousand fans. That broke last year's mark by more than 16,000 fans.
