HOUSTON (AP) -- The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas dropped both nationwide and in Oklahoma this week.
Houston-based Baker Hughes says the number of active rigs in the United States is down by 14 and the number in Oklahoma declined by six.
Of the other major oil- and gas-producing states Alaska and California gained one rig each. New Mexico is down by six, Colorado and Louisiana lost four each, and Texas declined by three. The number in Wyoming is unchanged.
Baker Hughes has tracked rig counts since 1944.
