OG&E Says Its Residential Customers Will Pay Less This Year

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma Gas and Electric officials say residential customers will pay less this summer for electricity than they did during the same time last year. The company outlined the rate comparisons in its annual fuel procurement report to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

OG&E says it is forecasting that a residential customer who uses an average of 1,450 kilowatt hours per month during the summer will pay about $125.50 per month before taxes.

Last summer, that amount was $149.43 a month.

Company officials attribute the decline to a decrease in the cost of natural gas prices, the result of a mild winter.

The company uses fuels such as natural gas and coal to heat large boilers, which create steam used to generate electricity.

OG&E has more than 755,000 customers in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.
