OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A 22-year-old University of Oklahoma civil engineering student will receive one of eleven National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships this year.
The $120,000 fellowship will help Jessica Whittle pay for a three-year doctoral study in structural dynamics at the University of Oxford in England. Oxford will also provide scholarship money.
Whittle says she hopes to someday teach at a university and help develop earthquake-resistant buildings for third-world countries.
