OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- University of Oklahoma President David Boren says he encouraged former CIA director George Tenet to resign because of his doubts about invading Iraq.
Boren's comments come as Tenet's new book is being released. In the book Tenet says the Bush administration never had serious debate over whether Iraq was an imminent threat or if tighter sanctions should be imposed.
Tenet describes Boren as a mentor after Boren selected him to be chief of staff of the Senate Intelligence Committee in 1987.
Boren is a former U.S. Senator and was chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Boren says both Tenet and former Secretary of State Colin Powell told him the Bush administration was determined to go into Iraq and both said they had misgivings about the plans.
