OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An Edmond husband and wife plan to leave their jobs at a private university this summer and move their family to the central African nation of Rwanda, which still is recovering from its 1994 genocide.

Holly and Brian Hixson now work at Oklahoma Christian University, which is affiliated with churches of Christ, and plan to help run a church and school in Rwanda.

Rwanda's leader, Paul Kagame, visited Oklahoma Christian in April 2006 and the university has 10 students from the country.

The Hixons visited Rwanda last summer, helping choose students for the scholarships to attend Oklahoma Christian.

The Hixsons, who attend Quail Springs Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, will move to Rwanda along with their children by August 1st

The nonprofit Rwanda Outreach and Community Foundation, which is led by Oklahoma Christian President Michael O'Neal, will buy a school and community center in the Rwandan town of Kigali from the government for $2 million.
