OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma is implementing new federal guidelines which change the process for getting a state driver license. The regulations require states to check each person who applies for a license to determine if the person has had his or her license suspended or revoked in any other state.
The requirement includes applications for a first driver license or a renewal or replacement license.
Any problems must be cleared with the other state before an Oklahoma driver license is issued.
Karen Gentry with the state Department of Public Safety says the regulations close a loophole which allowed people whose license was suspended or revoked to move to another state and get another license.
Gentry says the procedure will not increase the cost of an Oklahoma license.
