NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ The University of Oklahoma ``strongly disagrees'' with an allegation that it adequately monitor athletes' employment at a Norman car dealership and claims it should be rewarded by the NCAA for doing the right thing.

In a letter to the NCAA, university President David Boren says there were no additional steps the university could have taken to prevent two football players from taking extra pay from the dealership.

Quarterback Rhett Bomar and offensive lineman JD Quinn were kicked off the football team last year, when Oklahoma self-reported the violations. They've since been ordered to pay back a combined total of more than $15,000 they received through their employment.

The university is set to go before the NCAA Committee on Infractions at a hearing April 14th in Indianapolis.
