Burglars Target Several Local Bixby Businesses

Burglars target a string of Bixby businesses. Police say two burglars have hit three businesses in less than a month, and officers say they need your help to stop these serial burglars before they strike again. The latest burglary happened Wednesday, and the News On 6â€™s Ashli Sims reports the thieves are going straight for the cash.

Before the Bixby Subway could even open its doors Wednesday morning, they were the target of thieves.

"Subway at 131st and Memorial,â€ said Bixby Police Detective Dana Singer. â€œBroke in the front door because they don't have a back door. Stole the safe and took off."

Police say it's the third one in less than a month. Another Subway was hit just two miles away a couple of weeks ago, and a Dollar General was burglarized at the end of February. Detectives say all three times, the burglars snatched the safe and split.

"Apparently they think they're getting away with it,â€ said Singer. â€œThey've done three now and there's no telling what they'll do next."

Detectives say the theives strike while the businesses are closed, so no one has been hurt, but they say the crimes could escalate.

"Like I said they're getting braver. And they might want to take it to the next level, and we don't want that to happen. We'd like to stop them," Singer said.
