MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ David West scored 26 points and Chris Paul added 23 points and 9-assists to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 114-103 victory over Memphis.

Pau Gasol led Memphis with 28 points and 10 rebounds and hit 11 of 14 shots Tuesday night. Mike Miller scored 13 points in the 1st quarter.

New Orleans built their lead in the 3rd period by connecting on 11 of their 16 shots. The Hornets were shooting 62% from the field entering the final period and finished with a 59% night from the field.

New Orleans extended the lead to 18 in the early minutes of the 4th.

The Hornets eventually reached 20. Although the Memphis reserves cut it to 110-101 in the closing minutes, New Orleans held on for its third win in the last four games after starting the month 0-6.
