EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) _ Michigan State was knocked out of the NCAA women's basketball tournament tonight, losing to visiting Rutgers 70-57.
Kia Vaughn scored 16 points at Breslin Arena to help Rutgers advance to the third round of the playoffs against Duke in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Victoria Lucas-Perry scored 17 points for the Spartans, Rene Haynes added 14 points and Aisha Jefferson 13.
Michigan State finishes the season at 24-9.
Big Ten freshman of the year Allyssa DeHaan was held scoreless until the 12:42 mark of the second half and ended up with six points -- less than half of her average.
