LAWTON, Okla. (AP) A Lawton woman is behind bars accused of robbing a local bank.
Thirty-one-year-old Charlette Cohee was charged Friday with first-degree robbery in connection with Wednesday's robbery of People's State Bank in Lawton.
Bank employees told police a woman handed a teller a note indicating she had a weapon and intended to rob the bank. The teller gave the woman money from her drawer, and the robber ran from the bank.
Police say they received a tip that Cohee made a large cash payment at a local bank just hours after the robbery. They say a search of her apartment and vehicle uncovered clothing worn during the robbery along with several shredded practice notes they say Cohee had written in preparation for the crime.
Police say that during an interview with police, Cohee confessed to the robbery.
She is being held in the Comanche County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
